Q: What happens if I miss games I was Schduled for? A: When missing an assignment the official is fined the game fee plus $10.00. For example: if you miss a SR game you will be fined $30.00 plus $10.00 for a total of $40.00. If you were scheduled for 2 games, make that times 2 for a total of $80.00.
Q: Do I get paid for a forfeited game? A: Yes, you will be paid for a forfeited game. Remember to sign in on the sheet in the referee’s room so we know you were there. Q: Am I covered by USA Hockey insurance if I work a game by myself? A: Yes, weather you do the game solo or with a partner(s) we are covered for all USA Hockey sanctioned events. Games, practices, etc... SAME APPLIES TO ISI. Q: When should I/shouldn't I wear my USA Hockey crest? A: Any time you officiate a USA Hockey game you must wear your USA Hockey crest. A: It is the Development Committee's (chaired by Brian Fortin) goal that every official gets evaluated once a year. If you wish to be evaluated more often or at a specific game contact Brian and let him know. He will do his best to arrange for an evaluator to be at your game. A: We get paid once a month. The Checks will be mailed out to you as soon as payroll is completed. Q: Do I get paid less for being a lower level official? A: No. The OHOA pays all officials by the game level worked. Weather you are a level 1 or level 4 you get the same game fee. Example: a level 1 and a level 4 officials working a Squirt game together will each get paid $14.00. Q: Where can I purchase officials attire? A: You can go to Northwest Skate Authorities and order anything they don’t have in stock. Or the Officials Warehouse at 1-888-806-refs. They are a big supporter of USA Hockey and have an amazing selection at great prices. Q: Are OHOA monthly meetings required? A: These meetings are not required, but it is IMPORTANT that you attend. We do some rule explanations, positioning help and answer any questions you might have. It is the easiest way to show that you care about being a part of OHOA. Q: Can I attend board meetings? A: Yes, you are allowed to sit in and listen to what is going on in the association, behind the scenes. You may even have a chance to give your input on the important topics that are discussed. Q: When will I become an NHL Ref? A: Probably, never. |
